Helpful Hints

Planning a wedding comes with plenty of questions — and that’s completely normal.

Choosing your celebrant is about more than paperwork — it’s about feeling comfortable, supported and understood.

From form-filling and vows to music, timing and nerves — there’s so much to think about.

Here are the answers to the things couples most often ask as they plan their ceremony.

Do we have to write our own vows?

Not at all. Some couples love writing their own vows, others prefer something simple, and many choose a mix of both. I can help you write your vows, offer prompts, or provide beautiful alternatives if writing feels daunting. There’s no “right” way — just what feels right for you

What parts of the ceremony are legally required?

In  Australia, there are just a few legal elements I must include — the legal wording, the time of lodging your NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage) , and signing the marriage documents. Everything else is completely flexible and can be shaped to reflect you as a couple.

Do you travel for weddings across Sydney and NSW?

Absolutely! We primarily serve Sydney, the Hunter Valley, and the Mid North Coast. Travel within 1hr of Cardiff Heights or Forster is included. For locations further afield, a modest travel fee may apply to cover our time and transport.

How involved are you in creating our ceremony?

As involved as you’d like me to be. I’ll guide you through the process, get to know your story, and write a ceremony that feels natural, warm and personal.  You’ll have the chance to review everything before the day if you wish — or you may prefer to keep a little surprise for the moment itself.

We’re nervous about standing in front of people. Can you help?

Absolutely. Many couples feel the same way. I keep my ceremonies relaxed, calm and supportive, and I’ll gently guide you through every moment, so you never feel unsure about what’s happening next.

How long does a ceremony usually last?

Most ceremonies are around 20–25 minutes, though this can be adjusted to suit you. I believe in ceremonies that feel meaningful, not long-winded

Do you help with music and sound?

Yes. I have my production off-sider who comes along to my ceremonies to take care of your ceremony music and sound, so everything runs smoothly on the day. From pre-ceremony music and the aisle song to the signing and recessional, we ensure your music is played at the right moments and at the right volume — clear, calm and stress-free.

Can we include family members, children or pets?

Yes — and I love when couples do. Whether it’s children, stepchildren, grandparents, pets, or special people who are no longer with us, we can include them in a way that feels natural and respectful.

When should we book you?

As soon as you have your date. Popular dates fill quickly, especially weekends. Once booked, I’ll guide you through everything step-by-step so the process feels easy and enjoyable.
